From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of Doctor Who serials that are available on DVD. Most Doctor Who DVDs have been released first in the United Kingdom with Region 2 coding, and later released in North America with Region 1 coding. Special features and commentaries are identical in the two versions, with the exception of The Five Doctors, the Region 1 release of which has a commentary track featuring Peter Davison and Terrance Dicks not available on the Region 2 release.

There are minor variations having to do with technical glitches that occurred in the Region 2 discs but were corrected in time for the Region 1 release (The Caves of Androzani, Remembrance of the Daleks). There is also a video fault in the Region 1 version of the episode "The Wheel of Fortune" from The Crusade (about 10 minutes into the episode) in the William Hartnell Lost in Time DVD that is not present in the Region 2 version.

The listing is in the following format: story number, title, number of episodes, release date.

[edit] Notes

  1.   a  Lost in Time is also available as a boxed set with both the Hartnell and Troughton volumes.
  2.   a  b  c  d  e  In North America, The Ribos Operation, The Pirate Planet, The Stones of Blood, The Androids of Tara, The Power of Kroll and The Armageddon Factor are also available as a box set titled "The Key to Time".
  3.   Due to complex licensing issues, there are currently no plans for a Region 1 DVD release of the 1996 Doctor Who television movie.
  4.   The 2005 series is being released in two formats, first as 4 "vanilla" releases (without extras) in May, June, August and September 2005, and later as a boxed set, with extras, scheduled for November 21 2005.
  5.   The Region 1 release of Doctor Who: The Complete First Series will be distributed in Canada only. This has been attributed to the lack of a U.S. broadcaster for the series. It will, however, be possible for U.S. viewers to purchase the series from Canadian distributors.
