Talk:Joseph Barsabbas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joseph Justus, mentioned in Acts 1:23, also known as Barsabas, was one of the early disciples of Jesus. He and Matthias were put forth as a possible replacement for Judas, the betrayer of Jesus who committed suicide. A condition for being considered the replacement was having been with Jesus from the beginning of His ministry. The disciples cast lots to determine if Barsabas or Matthias would be the new apostle and Matthias was chosen. Though not chosen as the 13th apostle, his consideration to be such, one of the two finalist speaks loudly about his faith.
