Josiah Quincy, Jr.

Josiah Quincy, Jr. (1802-1882) was mayor of Boston (1846-1848), as his father Josiah Quincy III (mayor 1823-1828) and his grandson Josiah Quincy (mayor 1895-1899).

As a member of the Massachusetts State Legislature in 1837, Mr. Quincy was instrumental in the establishment of the Massachusetts Board of Education.
