Joshua Ploeg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joshua Ploeg is the real name of Joshua Plague, who was the singer for American queercore/ hardcore bands Mukilteo Fairies, Behead the Prophet No Lord Shall Live and the Lords of Lightspeed from 1993-2001 altogether. Under that name he also did zines, noise, chanting and spoken word (including the Sanctuary of Sound, which put out a CD in garbled Sumerian). For the last several years, Joshua Ploeg has been touring the country as a vegan/ vegetarian chef doing dinners and events in a diy fashion, oddly similar to the ethos of his former bands. He writes a column for Satya magazine of New York, and he put out several comb-bound vegan cookbooks, including "Something Delicious This Way Comes: Spellbinding Vegan Cookery". His food tours sound crazy since he mostly travels by bus and train and uses whatever kitchen and implements the hosts provide. He writes about his adventures from time to time. He also has done some strange, sort of tuneless a capella "folk singing" under his real name, which he calls "Newstalgia". Western Graves and other performers have covered his folk songs. Ploeg also played drums in the Olympia, Washington trio Kiss Me Kill Me which included Kerry Cramer on vocals (who sang about aliens, P.E., and donuts) and John Dahlin on bass, who was the original singer for the Accused!
