Joshua Livestro

Joshua Livestro (born 1970) is a Dutch columnist and political person. He was a former assistant to EU commissioner Frits Bolkestein.

Livestro studied political science at Leiden University and philosophy at the University of Cambridge. His thesis adviser at Leiden University was Andreas Kinneging. Together with Bart Jan Spruyt, Livestro was active in the Edmund Burke Stichting, a conservative think tank. During his studies, Livestro was an extremely active checkers player, and became national student champion in 1994.

Livestro succeeded Ronald Plasterk as columnist for the sunday morning television talkshow Buitenhof. Plasterk became an education minister in the fourth Balkenende cabinet.
