Joshua Levering

Joshua Levering (1845-????) was a prominent Baptist leader . He was president of the trustees of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, vice-president of the Southern Baptist Convention, co-founder of the American Baptist Educational Society, and co-founder of the Layman's Missionary Movement.

A strong supporter of the temperance movement, Levering became the presidential condidate of the Prohibition Party in the election of 1896 and received 132,007 votes.
