Joshua Hayward (Born 1984, Canvey Island, Also known as Joshua Third and previously Joshua Von Grimm) is the guitarist for the UK garage rock band The Horrors. Joshua grew up on the Thames area of Canvey Island before attending secondary school at Westcliff High School for Boys in Southend-on-sea. He also studied at University College London where he gained a BSc in Physics. He is known to be influenced by bands such as The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Fire Engines and Sonic Youth. Like other members of The Horrors he is recognisable in the current UK popular music scene by his unusual choice of apparel and hairstyle.

[edit] Equipment

Joshua uses two Fender Jaguars, one white and one sunburts. His choice of amp is also Fender, a Fender Twin. Joshua is known to make his own effects pedals by rerouting the wiring at the back of the pedals and creating a more fuzzy, garage influenced sound. He created an article on how to achieve this in the first Horrors fanzine.

[edit] Name Change

On the 28th of March 2007, The Horrors front man Faris Rotter announced on The Horum that Joshua was changing his name from "Joshua Von Grimm" to Joshua Third. [1]
