Josh Zuckerman (musician)

Josh Zuckerman (born August 1970) is an award-winning gay singer/songwriter who currently teaches kindergarten at Highlands Elementary School in Highlands, NJ near the Jersey Shore. His music has been featured on TV Shows and his single "Out From Under" was number one for four weeks on Sirius radio in 2006.

Raised in St.Louis, Missouri, a music town in it's own right, Josh developed his first love for music. At the age of eight he was introduced to violin which he studied for the next five years. About this time, Josh's interest in music drifted to rock'n roll.

After unsatisfied gigs in several cover bands, Josh decided to write his own music. Inspired by the sounds of the east coast, Josh relocated to New Jersey where he continued to compose his melodies and lyrics.

This promising singer /songwriter/ musician expands his musical horizons with each original song he composes and records. Josh's lyrics are said to be truthful, surrounding life's challenges and quest for spiritual growth. His musical conviction and well articulated melodies are spirited and intriguing.

Although he considers himself a musician, Josh remains mainly focused on strong songwriting and vocal harmonies.

His love for music is not confined to just recording CD's. Josh also loves the stage and proves this by his charismatic stage presence that leaves his audience a lasting impression, enticing people to come back for more.

Josh has delivered his music internationally, performing in many sold-out shows including over 40,000 people at the 1996 World Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia supporting Peabo Bryson as well as the 1998 World Expo, in Lisbon, Portugal, and the 2005 World Expo in Nagoya, Japan. He has traveled to over 15 different countries including the United States, Bermuda, Germany, France, Belgium, Sweden, Norway as well as Thailand. Zuckerman's critically-acclaimed debut CD "a totally new sensation" ranked #1 on the Outvoice charts. His title track song " a totally new sensation" has been nominated for the 2002 OMA music awards for outstanding songwriter of the year and for 2003 Outstanding Debut Male. He also won 3rd place in the international songwriting competition for his song "When Love Comes Back Again."

Josh has been written up in several national as well as international papers such as TimeOut NY, Instinct, New York resident, New York Blade, HX, Wind City Times, Chicago, Asbury Park Press, NJ, GO Oklahoma, Frontiers, Los Angeles, and Bay Windows,New England and was also the feature cover of PM Magazine NY. Zuckerman's critically-acclaimed debut CD ranked #1 on the Outvoice charts as well as #1 on Radio Crystal Blue. His debut CD " a totally new sensation" has been selling across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Josh has shared the stage with Indigo Girls, Macy Gray, Kimberly Locke, Jai Rodriguez, Rupaul, Joan Jett, B.B King and many others. Clips of his songs "Karma," "Spiritual," and "Circle Of Friends" appeared on the Kathy Griffin's reality show "My Life On The D-List" on Bravo.

Josh's single "Out From Under" went straight to number 1 for 4 weeks in a row on Sirius Out Q Radio. His second single "Be Real" is currently number 1 for 3 weeks on Sirius Out Q Radio.

Josh's video "Out From Under" has been the number 1 most requested video on LOGO Television for 6 weeks.

This cd represents all that humans go through. It's a collection of thoughts and emotions put into 13 original songs. Songs regarding life, love, and the pain we go through being in a relationship as well as out of one.

[edit] A Totally New Sensation

In 2002, Josh released his album A Totally New Sensation. The album featured several original tracks plus a cover of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". Following the release of the album, Josh toured the United States and during the summer also the Scandinavian Countries. His track "A Totally New Sensation" was nominated for the 2002 OMA music award. In 2005, Steve DeVito joined Zuckerman's band. In 2006 Josh's music was featured on the television series Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.

In 2006, Zuckerman released "Out from Under," a 13-track CD of original material. After the album's release, the track "Out From Under" soared to the number one spot on Sirius Radio, where it remained for several weeks. The track "Be Real" would do the same several weeks later. His music video, filmed at the Wonderbar in Asbury Park would also gain airtime on numerous video stations as well. The music video for "Out From Under" was ranked #4 for 2006 on LOGO's The Click List. The first three weeks of 2007 the video was ranked as #1 at Logo's Click List.
