Josh Sharpless (January 1, 1981 in Beaver, Pennsylvania, USA - ) is a right-handed relief pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Sharpless grew up in the greater Pittsburgh area, attending Freedom High School in Freedom, Pennsylvania. Drafted in the 24th round of the June 2003 draft out of Allegheny College, he progressed through the Pirates minor league system in three years.
He reached the majors on August 1, 2006, when trade-deadline moves left openings in the major-league roster. He made his first appearance on August 2, 2006.[1] Sharpless is currently on the roster of the Indianapolis Indians, Pittsburgh's top minor league affiliate.
Sharpless continues to live in the Pittsburgh area year-round.[2]
