Josh Perschbacher

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Josh Perschbacher is a notable American organist and arranger for his work creating symphonic re-orchestrations for the pipe organ. He is one of the few musicians taking the next step in applying technology to the music of the organ. By using MIDI he can not only play passages unplayable by human fingers, but also assign multiple lines of score to each organ manual to be played independently and simultaneously. The end result is texturally identical to the original orchestral score, with the addition of the organs sub and super octave voices and couplers. His repertoire includes many works by notable film composer John Williams, other movie themes (including Pirates of the Caribbean by Klaus Badelt), an arsenal of program music (including The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Peter and the Wolf), his favorite Tchaikovsky overtures, and a wide array of various musical styles, time periods, and composers.
