Joshua McCown (born July 4, 1979 in Jacksonville, Texas) is an American football player in the National Football League at the quarterback position for the Detroit Lions. The Arizona Cardinals selected McCown with the 16th pick of the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft out of Sam Houston State University. He is the older brother of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Luke McCown and younger brother of former Texas A & M quarterback Randy McCown.

McCown attended Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Texas. As a senior, he was the East Texas Player of the Year, District 17-4A offensive player of the Year, and an all-state honorable mention. He completed 153 out of 231 (66.23 completion percentage) for 30 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He also played basketball, and won an All-District second team honors as a senior.

McCown played as a quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals from 2002 until 2005. He was an occasional starter along with Shaun King, but McCown mostly relinquished the starting role to Kurt Warner in 2005.

In the 2006 off-season, McCown was a free agent. He signed a two-year contract with the Detroit Lions on March 16, 2006. He is now the backup quarterback to Jon Kitna, and has been used in as the Z (slot receiver) recently, usurping Corey Bradford and Mike Williams as the third WR. McCown has caught 2 passes for 15 yards when playing wide receiver this year making his career total 3 catches for 10 yards
