Joseph Tarka

Joseph Tarka (1932-1980) was a Nigerian politician from Benue State and a former minister for Communications under General Yakubu Gowon. He was one of the founding members of the United Middle Belt Congress, a political organization that provided a leadership platform for the middle belt's political ideas and tried to protect the power and prestige of the zone's myriad cultural groups amidst the regional government of a powerful political and cultural hegemony.
