The Joseph Scelsi Intermodal Transportation Center is a long-distance ground travel (rail and bus) terminal serving the Pittsfield, Massachusetts area and surrounding areas. Named after Joseph Scelsi, the longtime State Representative that represented Pittsfield, the center opened in 2004 adjacent to the site of the former Pittsfield Amtrak station. Owned by the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA), the site serves Amtrak, Peter Pan/Bonanza long-distance buses, and is also a hub of the BRTA's own local buses.

[edit] Amtrak service
The Amtrak component of the center is located below the actual station as the tracks are located in a depression with an elevator and stairs to the tracks. There is a single low-level platform facing the thru track though a passing siding also goes through the station; a wheelchair lift is available for use if needed.
Pittsfield sees two trains a day via the Boston leg of the Lake Shore Limited, Train 449 goes to Albany-Rensselaer with service continuing onto Chicago while Train 448 continues to South Station in Boston. The trains are scheduled to arrive mid-afternoon, however delays on the Lake Shore Limited are common.
[edit] Intercity bus service
Bonanza and Peter Pan offer direct service from Pittsfield to Boston, Springfield, Albany, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City and other towns along those routes. There is also service to Williamstown on Bonanza and BRTA.
[edit] BRTA service
The station serves as a hub and a transfer point for most of the BRTA's routes though service to Williamstown requires a transfer in North Adams, Massachusetts and travel to West Stockbridge and Great Barrington requires a transfer in Lee. Service runs between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
