Joseph Leonard Burley

Joseph Leonard Burley (born 1888, died May 24, 1966) was the founder of the Burley Football Company, which later became part of the Burley-Sekem group.

He married Rose Ellen (Walsh or Davenport - yet to be verified) (deceased). They had three children: Dorothy (born 1900), Grace (born 1906) and John (born 1916). Burley is buried in Karrakatta Cemetery in Perth, Western Australia.

Joseph was very much involved in the development and promotion of the Australian Rules Football game in Western Australia. Amongst many philanthropic activities he sponsored a tour of Tasmania by the East Perth Football Club in the 1930's.

His collection of early football photographs are housed in the Battye Library in Western Australia.
