Joseph Jefferson Awards

The Joseph Jefferson Awards (The Jeff Awards) are given annually to acknowledge excellence in theatre in the Chicago area. Founded in 1968, the award is given in tribute to actor Joseph Jefferson. Two types of awards are given: Jeff "Awards" are for work done under a union contract whereas "Citations" are for non-union work.
Awards are given "for outstanding achievement" in the following categories:

- Director
- Actor and Actress in a Principal Role
- Actor and Actress in a Supporting Role
- Production
- Direction
- Actor and Actress in a Revue
- Cameo Performance
- Ensemble
- Choreography
- Scenic Design
- Lighting Design
- Costume Design
- Original Music
- Musical Direction
- Sound Design
- New Work
- Adaptation
