Joseph Finnegan

The Honourable Mr. Justice Joseph Finnegan (October 1942) has beem a member of the Irish Supreme Court since November 2006.
He was born in Dublin, educated at Crescent College Limerick, and thereafter went to UCD where he studied law. He qualified as a solicitor in 1966 practising from that year until 1978 when he qualified as a barrister and worked in this role until his appointment as a High Court judge in 1999. He served as President of the High Court from 2001 until 2006 upon his appointment to the Supreme Court of Ireland. His daughter is a practising barrister. In 2007 he was paid Euro 229,173 per year.
