Archbishop Joseph Charbonneau, (July 31, 1892November 19, 1959), was ordained as a priest in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1916. In 1939, he was made bishop of Hearst, Ontario. He bcame archbishop of the archdiocese of Montréal in 1940 and resigned in 1950.

He is best known in Canada for his role in the Asbestos Strike and for which he was asked to resign by Pope Pius XII and accepted work in British Columbia as a hospital chaplain. He was given the position of Titular Archbishop of Bosporus upon his resignation.
