Joseph Bruce (b. April 28, 1972, Wayne, Michigan) is better known to the world as Violent J of the Insane Clown Posse. He is also the co-founder of the record label of the band, Psychopathic Records, with fellow ICP rapper Joseph Utsler (aka Shaggy 2 Dope) and their former manager, Alex Abbiss. He also has a younger brother, the rapper Robert Bruce, (a.k.a. Jumpsteady). He has a son named Joseph Bruce II who was born in January 2005, and a daughter named Ruby Bruce who was born December 1, 2006.
Shaggy 2 Dope and Mike E. Clark mix the music for the group, and because of this J sings the lead vocals on most songs. Plus, according to Shaggy, J spends more time in the studio, hence he has more vocals time.

[edit] Eminem vs. ICP
The feud between Eminem and Insane Clown Posse began sometime in the mid 90s when Eminem approached them with a flyer to promote his "Slim Shady LP" release party which stated 'Insane Clown Posse might make an appearance!' Neither Violent J nor Shaggy knew or met Eminem at the time. Violent J declined the invitation and Eminem took it as an insult, and began making skits during his Slim Shady Tour mocking them. ICP retaliated in taking the original song of "My Name Is," changed parts of the song to make Eminem seem somewhat homosexual, renaming it Slim Anus. In cross retaliation, Emimem, then, created a skit in the Marshall Mathers LP and a few lines in the song "Marshall Mathers" defending himself and making ICP, in turn, seem somewhat homosexual. ICP had also made disses towards Eminem, as well as his mother, in a song called "Ain't Nuttin' But A Bitch Thang" and a few songs from their "Bizaar/Bizzar" double album. Rumor was afterwards that the chorus to Eminem's song "Business" was a straight diss to ICP. During a recent interview with Howard Stern, ICP was asked if the feud was still continuing. They responded saying that it's over and is considered old news.[citation needed] Violent J was actually the one who started all this as ICP's record sales were going down the drain and merchandise sales were at an all time low Violent J once again tried to make ICP and Psychopathic Records go main stream. He failed miserable as Marshal knew what he was trying to do and abruptly stopped with the beef before more of his millions and millions of fans could know the name Insane Clown Posse. ICP's career was over after this beef. But people still wonder when did their career even begin?
[edit] Wrestling career
Bruce is also a professional wrestler. He started off in 1990 as an independent wrestler under the moniker Dropkick Daniels and Corporal Darrell Daniels. His first match ever was working for Al Snow, and it was also the same night where Rob Van Dam and Terry Brunk (Sabu) had their first matches.
Bruce then went on to wrestle in the WWF, ECW and a long stint in WCW with Shaggy 2 Dope, Vampiro and Raven as The Dead Pool. After WCW, he and SHhaggy created Juggalo Championshit Wrestling, which was a huge success with "juggalos" (ICP's fanbase), and the backyard wrestling fanbase. Bruce remains great friends with many wrestlers including Sabu, RVD, and Vampiro, just to name a few.
[edit] Solo releases
In 2003, Bruce released a solo album, The Wizard of the Hood, inspired by a song of the same name from Insane Clown Posse's first Joker's Card album, Carnival of Carnage. Wizard of the Hood is an urban spin to the classic tale of The Wizard of Oz in which Violent J is trying to get back to Detroit, The Scarecrow (Monoxide Child of Twiztid) needs "homies to smoke with", the Tin Man (Jamie Madrox of Twiztid) needs a gun, and The Lion (Blaze ya Dead Homie) is looking for female lion/human hybrids to have sex with and marry. The album also features Shaggy 2 Dope as the Wizard and Anybody Killa as the Gatekeeper.
