Joseph Bloch

Joseph Bloch (1966 - present) is an advocate of transhumanism and is active in science fiction fandom.

A graduate of The Pingry School in Martinsville, NJ, and Boston University, he is a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

In 2004 he founded the Center for Human Enhancement, a for-profit venture aimed at making enhancement technologies and techniques available to everyone. In the same year, he was elected to the board of directors of the World Transhumanist Association. He served on the board of the WTA from 2005 through 2007, authoring the WTA flyer on human cloning during his tenure.

He is an outspoken advocate of transhumanism, authoring articles, giving lectures at many science fiction conventions and other venues, and appearing on radio talk shows. He also maintains the PostHumanity Rising blog, which covers his thoughts on the issues facing transhumanism today.

He has also been active in several Starfleet International affiliated fan-clubs, and has most recently appeared in the Star Trek fan-film series "Tales of the Seventh Fleet" in what is purported to be a recurring role.
