José Antonio Patlán Valtierra (born January 12, 1983) is a Mexican football player who is currently playing for Chivas de Guadalajara, and he plays the role of central defender.

He debuted in a match against Club Toluca in April 29, 2006, Toluca won the match 2-0 [1]. He got the chance to play in Clausura 2006, because his team was without 6 players for the Mexican National Football Team (Oswaldo Sanchez, Gonzalo Pineda, Ramon Morales, Omar Bravo, Francisco Javier Rodriguez and Carlos Salcido) already in training for the FIFA World Cup 2006. Chivas was already qualified for the playoffs of the tournament and also having to play Copa Libertadores, so the team started to play with young players for the Clausura 2006 playoffs and the more experimented for the Libertadores. Patlan was one of the most praised players by the media.

In Apertura 2006, he became champion with Chivas, and he started to be a more consistent back-up defender for the rojiblancos.
