[edit] Edmond Blanchard NPOV Dispute
Hi there; I am sorry I did not put this in right away, but I was rushed. please see Talk:Edmond Blanchard for my short comments. Thanks for your attention. Shagmaestro 04:37, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wind-class icebreaker
Hi, thanks for your help on the Wind-class icebreaker article, but unfortunately the Canadian Forces Maritime Command was not an entity until February 1, 1968, and the HMCS Labrador was in service with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1954 through 1958. I have therefore reverted your edit to point to the correct historical article so that the history of this ship class stays in the proper context. Maxarre 04:50, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Allison-brewer.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Allison-brewer.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 00:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Help
Can you help me understand what is going on at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pedophobia and whether I should continue to try to "save" the article? I'm not sure what the etiquette is, aside from stepping back - but if I don't who will?!? Thanks. Freechild 07:07, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Bobrae-premier.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Bobrae-premier.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu Badali 14:09, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Allison-brewer.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Allison-brewer.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. - The image page does in fact say who created the contect - her leadership campaign - and that it was distributed freely. - Jord 15:40, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Being "distributed freely" doesn't implyies it's free to be used for any purpose. For instance, if we can't modify the image, it's not free enough for Wikipedia (because Wikipedia's content is supposed to be modifiable by anyone. I'm listing the image for deletion. --Abu Badali 22:45, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Better Source Request for Image:Allison-brewer.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Allison-brewer.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. MECU≈talk 20:24, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- All the information you posted on my talk page would be awesome to have on the image description page. You should put all that on the talk page and you can remove the BSR template. Every little bit helps when trying to determine source information. That url has an email we can use for more information too, for example.--MECU≈talk 20:39, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. I removed the IFD since it was listed on Jan21, admins processed that date and didn't delete this image, so I guess the result was Keep/No consensus, though the IFD doesn't say anything. I would recommend that you actually use this under fair use by using Template:fairusein because the restrictions that "we cannot modify it" are a limitation that is not compatible with the GFDL. You have a strong argument for justifying the use (read: rationale) of this image already on the image: she is retired from public life, making the likelihood of a free image being created or found very small (you can put that on the description page as well). See WP:FURG for help in writing the rationale (but you're halfway done!). I think this image will be kept around here (provided it's used) for a long, long time. --MECU≈talk 20:30, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bob Rae image
What discussion? On the image's talk page, there was no dispute that it was acceptable. On the more broad discussion page, it was not disputed. An administrator, User:Zanimum, removed your tag for deletion and declared that the image should be kept. Is your complaint that it is the lead photo? The image belongs with the infobox which is at the lead, if so, I will move it down the article. - Jord 16:57, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I was referring the unfinished discussion at the image's talk page. User:Zanimum is the admin that had committed most image abuses that I'm aware of. I would suggest you to avoid his guidance. We don't use unfree image to depict living people, and we don't need an image him young just because the article mentions what he did when he was young. --Abu Badali 17:09, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Children of the Prime Ministers afd
Hi there. Think you can help us save this article? Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Children of the Prime Ministers of Canada. Thanks Jord. -- Earl Andrew - talk 01:22, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your vote to keep on the article on their children, but they have put this one (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Parents of the Prime Ministers of Canada) on AfD as well. -- Earl Andrew - talk 17:27, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Please help me as an Advocate on the Sulla Article
Hi I am in a dispute with Vpf15 over one section of Sulla and as a history buf, I thought you maybe best able o help resolve it:
This lesson in supreme confidence, Caesar later ridiculed - "Sulla did not know his political ABCs". In retrospect, of the two, Sulla was to have the last laugh, as it was he who died in his own bed [1].
Vpf15 is now removing links validating my point - "Sulla was to have the last laugh, as it was he who died in his own bed"
An help, advice, arbitration etc... you can give will be much appreciated...( fairly full section on this at the end of article discussion page). regards Sulla16 2-25-07
- Hi. I am removing PoV comments. Expressions such as "lesson in supreme confidence" and "to have the last laugh" don't belong in a factual article. As it stands, the text is PoV and I am removing it. Instead of rewriting it to more neutral wording, Sulla 16 is expanding the text to make it even more PoV. Sulla16 seems like a wikipedia neophyte, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he should learn to initiate compromise. Vincent 01:48, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry but I do not have time to take this on at present. I suggest you open a request for advocacy or, if more appropriate, request for moderation. - Jord 22:39, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry for a slow response
You posted during a time where I was reassessing my desire to participate in Wikipedia, which is still ongoing. However, in regards to you arbitration request, I have had no personal run-ins with User:Abu_badali, only bearing witness to a pattern of orphaning that appears to be a violation of WP:NOT#SOAP against fair use criteria. After review, this user's edits do not strike me as being in good faith. And I feel it fairly clear that he is targeting users that stand up to him or speak out against him by going through their contributions with the intent to orphan their images, , which is WP:HAR#Wikistalking. Additionally I note that his user page even declares his intention as such with the phrase "Expect me to read through your logs." You may cite me, and I am willing to sign to the effect. However, I have nothing to really add beyond this. -- jsa 02:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
