Jorge Urosa

Jorge Liberato Cardinal Urosa Savino (August 28, 1942) is a Cardinal and the most senior member of the Roman Catholic church in Venezuela. He is the current Archbishop of Caracas.
Urosa was ordained as priest in 1967 at the age of 24. He was ordained as Bishop and appointed to Vegesela di Bizacena in 1982. In 1990 he was appointed Archbishop of Valencia, Venezuela and in 2005 was appointed Archbishop of Caracas.

On March 24, 2006 Benedict XVI in the first Consistory of his papacy, elevated Urosa to Cardinal, making him the fifth Venezuelan priest ever to join the College of Cardinals.
Urosa became Cardinal Priest of the Titulus S. Maria ai Monti.
