Jorak Uln

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jorak Uln is a fictional character from the Star Wars Expanded Universe; thus far, he has only appeared in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Jorak Uln was the former headmaster of the Sith academy on Korriban, and one of Revan's followers who had previously set up the Sith Academy on Korriban.

Prior to the events depicted in the game, Jorak Uln was overthrown by his apprentice, Uthar Wynn. Yet, he left for the tomb of Tulak Hord, one of the ancient Sith lords buried in the fabled of Valley of the Dark Lords.

It is unknown whether he simply escaped or if Uthar allowed him to live. Jorak is insane, delighting in inflicting suffering, perhaps this is because the years of isolation and the corruption of the dark side of the Force have destroyed his last grip on reality. When the player character visits Korriban on a quest to discover the fabled Star Maps, he can explore the tomb of Tulak Hord to find valuable artifacts in order to impress Uthar Wynn and gain prestige, which is needed to gain access to the tomb where the map lies. Jorak Uln tricks the player by releasing poison gas. The player awakes in his sanctum, alongside fellow student Mekel, a Sith who apparently was captured too by Jorak, while exploring the tomb.

Jorak asks the player questions about the Sith philosophy, after complaining that the current students lack the "gumption" and purity one would expect from a true Sith.

If the player answers a question wrong, Jorak unleashes Force lightning on him. If he answers them correctly, Jorak unleashes Force lightning on Mekel. The player must answer at least three questions correctly in order to pass the test. Then Mekel dies, and Jorak gives the player a holocron, which should help him become a true Sith, as he claims. Jorak then leaves the tomb, it is unknown whether he survived the civil war.

If the player answers the questions wrong, he and Mekel turn on Jorak and kill him. The player can then take the holocron and has the option to spare Mekel or kill him.
