[edit] WikiProject:RPG

I woukd like to participate in such a project had had been going with the same idea in my head. I am currently trying to develop some infoboxes regarding RPG games and RPG publishers, they can be seen at my suppage User:Angelbo/testpage.

Hello, and welcome as the first person on my talk page. That sounds good! I've looked at the Game template, but as you've done it has to customized to what's important for RPGs. There are other things that could be added to the template box, like Cost, Number of pages, ISBN-number and Current edition, but perhaps it's better to keep it simple? I like it, and I think it's useful. I would like scanned lo-res pictures of covers on the game pages; that would be helpful.
The more people I talk to the more determined I get to start this thing. Just give me a day so I can read up on how to do it properly.

for my project notes see: User:Angelbo/rpgstuff
For the infobox it is not finished yet, it its only a tryout, however I would not like to have price in it because the differ from country to country. but i lke some of your ideas keep em coming. Angelbo 18:05, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
You're probably right on the price thing. Besides differences between countries, prices change constantly without any real notice so it would be hard to keep up-to-date. The editition thing, on the other hand, would be simpler as it's usually announced very clearly when a new edition is out. I haven't read enough RPG articles yet to know how it's done, but I think it's very important to be clear what edition of the game the text is about, since there could be huge differences between them. I'll get back to you as soon as the project is started.

I agree that a version/edition number is a good thing, Also to include an ISBN number, and other info. Keep up the good work.Angelbo 22:25, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RPG Infobox

D'oh - looks like you (User:Angelbo) beat me to it! My effort is at User:Percy Snoodle/Infobox RPG - it's very similar to yours, but omits the "notable supplements" section. I'm not convinced that a supplement can be notable enough to go in the infobox without being notable enough for its own page. I agree about the price being something to keep out of it. Percy Snoodle 21:56, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Looks good, the reason I choose a grey color was because that was used in the game infobox and you used purple because you started with another template, I asume. We really need to get a project up and running so we can implement an infobox. I agree on not to include suplements. keep up the good work. Angelbo 22:25, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, mine was a combination of Template:Infobox Game and Template:Infobox CVG - I tweaked the color from the CVG one to keep ours different. Percy Snoodle 10:08, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] CVG-RPG policy

I think we should have one, and I think it should be: cvg-rpgs are the province of Wikiproject CVGs, not Wikiproject RPGs. Percy Snoodle 10:08, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

You're right. People often confuse them. Jonas Karlsson 12:43, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:RPG

Wikiproject RPG needs to adopt this near-pointless and fugly template, and turn it into something worthwhile. I reckon we should match the style of Infobox RPG (whatever that ends up being), and come up with some actual content for it. Percy Snoodle 10:34, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

OK, here's my idea: User:Percy Snoodle/Template:RPG Percy Snoodle 11:16, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

That looks a lot better than the old one: nice, clean and informative. Jonas Karlsson 12:43, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject started

I've started the project: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Role-playing_games! We can continue any discussions over there instead, to make it easier for others to find. I'm impressed that both of you have worked on this before, this will be fun. Jonas Karlsson 12:43, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Political Role Playing->cat Role-playing?

Hi. You categorized Political Role Playing as Category: Role-playing games. Can we, instead, move it up a notch to Category: Role-playing? My (vaguely formed) idea is that Cat:RPG is for the things that are primarily Games, that is, primarily for entertainment, not simulation or education purposes - Cat:RP is for RP for things that are not necessarily games for entertainment as such. Also, Cat:RP is woefully empty, while, as you remember, Cat:RPG had so much stuff in it we had to subcategorize enthusiastically. :-). Thanks, GRuban 17:17, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Sure! I was just going through stubs, and I (1) wanted to dump it into the RPG category to get someone to react (^_^) and (2) the page talks about it as a game, so... But, please, recategorize if you want to. It does feel like more role-playing, than a game, doesn't it?Jonas Karlsson 23:33, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Peer review

Hi I'm pretty new to Wikipedia, but I have expanded the RPG Theory site a fair bit. I took off the stub tag, 'cause I think its at least a starter now, am I allowed to do that? I have been doing original research on RPG Theory elsewhere. I think my RPG Theory expansion is NPOV and No Original research, but I guess I'm not sure. Is there a way to request peer review of it at the RPG Project page? I added a category tag for critical theory too, am I allowed to do that? Thanks Bmorton3 17:58, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] InSpectres

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article InSpectres, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --Slowking Man 03:19, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
