Jonne Valtonen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jonne Valtonen, a.k.a. Purple Motion, was the lead composer for Future Crew, one of the most widely popular demo group of the 1990s. He won multiple awards, most notably at Finnish demo-party Assembly, for his work throughout the demoscene. Some of his best known MOD tracks are UnreaL II (Second Reality), Satellite One, and Starshine. He, like the other members of Future Crew, is from Finland and was born in 1976. He selected the pseudonym "Purple Motion" because he was a fan of British rock group Deep Purple and thought it would sound good combined with "motion".

After Future Crew disbanded in the mid-90s, Valtonen continued to compose songs, doing some commission work for computer and video games, and wrote the scores for several stage plays. In 2004 he released his first professionally mastered audio CD, titled Musicdisk. In 2005 and 2006 he arranged and orchestrated music for the world tour Play! A Video Game Symphony.

His track, Second Reality part 2 is in the top ten charts on Nectarine, the demoscene music radio station. Similarly, the Commodore 64 remake version by artist kb of Farbrausch and Smash Designs is among the highest rated songs on Nectarine. [1]
