Jonathan Weed (often called Mr. Weed) was a character in the animated television series, Family Guy. His voice was provided by Carlos Alazraqui. His role in the series was as the boss of the Happy-Go-Lucky Toy Factory, where Peter Griffin worked. He played and managed the company's baseball team named the "Quahog Toy Boys".
Brian asked why his last name is "Weed". He replies his father changed the family name on Ellis Island after his real last name was "Bermuda Grass".
[edit] Homosexuality
Although Weed's homosexuality was never stated, jokes about it were frequent; he hired a lawyer named Guillermo who may have been his boyfriend, since he knew Guillermo was allergic to penicillin and white zinfandel. Also, after a stone penis from the Statue of David is thrown into his house, he picks it up, strokes it, and proclaims "I shall call you Eduardo!" He also takes Peter's suggested toy at a conference, called Mr. Zucchini Head (a joke on Mr. Potato Head), which resembled a penis that vibrated, into his office with him.
[edit] Death
His last appearance was in Mr. Saturday Knight. During that episode, Peter invited him to dinner. Mr. Weed died at the Griffin's home when he choked to death on a dinner roll. After his death the toy factory was demolished to make way for The Happy-Go-Lucky Terminal Disease Institute.
Exactly why Seth MacFarlane decided to kill off Mr. Weed is not known, although in DVD commentaries MacFarlane and his staff describe how they originally planned to have Peter get a new job every season.
