Jonathan Hershel Singer (born April 15, 1984 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a political writer for the progressive blog MyDD.

In June 2004, Singer began blogging about American politics on his own site, Basie!, which was perhaps best known for its numerous interviews with former presidential candidates, such as Walter Mondale, Bob Dole, Michael Dukakis, George McGovern, John B. Anderson, and others. During the summer of 2005, Singer covered congressional elections and telecommunications issues for The Hill, a Capitol Hill newspaper.

In November 2005, Singer was tapped to be an editor of MyDD, a position he has held since. Writing for the site during the 2006 election cycle, Singer broadened his interview series to include Democratic senatorial, congressional and gubernatorial candidates all around the country, and through the campaign for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination Singer spoke with a number of the announced and potential candidates in the race, including John Edwards, Barack Obama, Bill Richardson, Chris Dodd, Russ Feingold and Tom Vilsack.

Singer, who grew up and continues to live in Portland, Oregon, graduated cum laude from Pomona College in Claremont, California in May 2006 with a degree in Politics.
