Jonathan Chait

Jonathan Chait (b. 1972) is a senior editor at The New Republic and a former assistant editor of The American Prospect. He also writes a periodic column in the Los Angeles Times. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he wrote for The Michigan Daily while in college. He began working at The New Republic in 1995.

A liberal hawk, Chait supported the invasion of Iraq, but is a vocal critic of the Bush administration, including its handling of the war and occupation.

He took over The New Republic's TRB column from Peter Beinart in March 2007.
