Jon Levasseur is the former lead guitar player of extreme metal band Cryptopsy from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Jon used to write music for earlier Cryptopsy and also wrote and performed all of the guitar work on their album "None So Vile". His work on "None So Vile" has earned him recognition as one of the most talented extreme metal guitarists of all time.

Jon wrote a considerable amount of music for the album Once Was Not. Although all guitar parts (with the exception of the intro track, "Luminum") were performed by guitarist Alex Auburn. That was due the fact that Levasseur quit the band long before the recording took part.
