Jon K. Thrower

Jon K. Thrower (born March 16, 1963) is the current Chief of the Cochran, Georgia Police Department in the United States. Chief Thrower was appointed to this position on August 13, 2006.

Jon K. Thrower was born on March 16, 1963 in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville in 1981. From 1981 to 1983, Thrower attended Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where he majored in business administration. In 1986, he graduated from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

Chief Thrower began his law enforcement career in 1986 at the Cochran Police Department. Since then, he has worked for the Dublin Police Department, the Eastman Police Department, and the Bleckley County Sheriff's Department. Prior to his appointment as Chief of Police, Thrower had served an extended period as Acting Chief while the sitting Chief was on medical leave. He was appointed as police chief by Mayor Edward E. "Gene" Towns on August 13, 2006 and confirmed by the Cochran City Council.

Chief Thrower is a member of the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce, where he currently serves on the Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Cochran Rotary Club, the First Baptist Church of Cochran, and the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police. Thrower also serves on the board of the Oconee Drug Task Force.
