[edit] Background

Over the span of a decade, DeRosa has been involved with a handful of projects, each of which has explored different genres of music.

Among the renowned personalities DeRosa has performed with include Nathan Amundson, The Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt, as well as multi-instrumentalist LD Beghtol.

[edit] DLR

Between September 1996 and January 1997, DeRosa recorded under the DLR moniker. The result was "Shadow Complex", a CD EP that was released via Brighter Records. And a full length album "Wakeing Up on the Wrong Side of No One", was released in 2001 from Plow City Records/Silber in CD format, distributed by the Projekt Records. DLR also contributed to a pair of compilations -- "Americana: Tribute to Johnny Cash", and "Cat-Shaped Hole in My Heart." The latter compilation was spurred on by the death of Sam Rosenthal's cat.

[edit] PHaR and Aarktica

Aarktica was conceived in the winter of 1998 with Jon DeRosa's permanent loss of hearing in one ear as a distraction from his other musical interests. As his hearing loss became less of a distraction and more of a new way of listening, Aarktica became a means to execute the soundtrack of the life in mono now thrust upon him. One of audio distortions, aural hallucinations and a reliance on painkillers.

As of 2006, both DLR and PHaR are inactive projects, with his primary project being Aarktica.
