Joint Information Systems Committee

The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) is a publicly-funded UK-wide body supporting the use of ICT and related technology for learning, teaching, research and administration in further and higher education.
JISC’s activities support education and research by promoting innovation in new technologies and by the central support of ICT services. JISC provides:
- JANET, a network connecting all higher and further education institutions in the UK to the internet.
- A collection of high quality online resources
- New environments for learning, teaching and research
- Guidance on institutional change
- Advisory and consultancy services
- Regional support for FE colleges — Regional Support Centres
As part of its remit, JISC funds various programmes and projects and a portfolio of services to assist with the provision and exploitation of ICT. These JISC services include:
