[edit] David Irving

The subject of how best to refer to Irving has been discussed at length. Please don't change it again without discussing first. Thanks --Guinnog 19:08, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Many thanks for your comment. I don't agree that most people would prefer to call him a "historian"; as the article rightly makes clear, Irving is discredited now and can no longer be regarded as such. "Holocaust denier", while it may sound less objective, is actually a fairer description of what he is nowadays known for. It was the focus of his lost libel case and it is the reason for his present incarceration. --Guinnog 19:17, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, it isn't just up to me you know. It is a long-established consensus. You are welcome to raise it on the talk page, but I don't see us referring to Irving as a historian in the present tense when he has been so thoroughly discredited in court. Best wishes --Guinnog 06:28, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your message. It remains of course to see what others think. --Guinnog 07:51, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Irving

Hope you're aware of WP:3RR -- if someone removes that tag, and you put it in again, you will be in violation, and that's just a pain in the neck. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 06:17, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the warning, and no, I wasn't aware of it. I'd like to note for the record though that the 1st person who reverted apologised for it afterwards (he hadn't read my comments on the discussion page), and the 2nd person simultaneously implied that I was a holocaust denier, shredding his own credibility in the process. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. Johnx10 06:30, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
You're welcome...and, see, they'll block first and ask questions later on 3RR things. We really don't like "edit wars" around here, and that rule, though arbitrary, is also quite effective. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 07:17, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
