[edit] Clarification

Regarding your edit/comment about Classmates.com page, for clarification the format that I typed into when making the page asked for "author" so I input my name. In hindsight I see that while it asks for "author" it lists "author" as "creator", which has the same meaning but you interpreted as creator of the website Classmates.com. So I understand the miscommunication.... just thought you might want to know the story behind it... and to say congratulations for knowing that Randy Conrads founded Classmates.com. Since others may also interpret "creator" as "founder" I appreciate your contribution to the page. Best regards, JohnUpp 21:49, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Not a problem, I guessed that you'd misinterpreted the intention of that line in the infobox template. I did modify the article in an attempt to retain a neutral point of view, but given you're responsible for public relations at Classmates, I think you should be congratulated for having written such an encyclopedic article, with references from a range of sources. Regarding StayFriends.se/.de, I would suggest first creating an article on the website, making it's notability (per WP:WEB) clear. That shouldn't be too hard given you've already cited some press sources which discuss the sites. I then see no reason why it couldn't be added to List of social networking websites. I don't know too much about the websites, but would it not be appropriate to create an encyclopedic StayFriends article, in which both StayFriends.se and StayFriends.de are discussed? (rather than articles on each localized version of the website which I'd consider much more like advertising). All the best, UkPaolo/talk 08:42, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Social networking

  1. I reverted your edits to List of social networking websites because that article is not supposed to contain redlinks (websites without articles).
  2. I reverted your edits to Social network because you did not cite sources. I see you have re-added the statement, please add a reference to the article. (http://www.release1-0.com/release1/abstracts.php?Counter=7592224 does not say anything about Classmates.com being founded in 1995, nor that it has more than 40 million members) -- getcrunkjuicecontribs 01:33, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Quite Coincidential, And An Honor Too

It's almost as if you were clairvoyant when you signed onto Wikipedia just three days before I created the Classmates.com article. By the way, how were you alerted to the article's new existance? Since you're someone of quite a rank from Classmates.com, I assume one of your employees notified you of the article's creation today?

Anyway, I'm glad to meet you. I didn't expect corporate executives like yourself to come to Wikipedia and work on any article I created. I guess you looked for the article about the site you own at exactly the right time. I'm honored to see that you've edited Classmates.com just as I'd feel honored to see anyone powerful edit an article I create.

I hope to see you around here more often! Regards, --Shultz IV 07:55, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Social networking

I deleted the relevant information (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_social_networking_websites&diff=next&oldid=48029001) from Classmates.com on the list of social networking websites because the extra-long description you added read as an advertisement. A more appropriate description would be "Aims to reunite old friends from school and work". Also, please stop adding the StayFriends sites as they are not in the English language and thus do not merit articles on Wikipedia. And as you say that you work for Classmates.com, I would advise you of Wikipedia's policy against original research.

And I would appreciate it if you would please stop threatening to "escalate this". -- getcrunkjuicecontribs 23:33, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Seeking clarification, collaboration and common ground

The non-english language sites in the List of social networking websites all have their own articles. Also, they are very popular in their respective countries and either have an english-language interface or do not have an english-language equivalent with its own article. As I understand, the StayFriends sites are just the .de/.se equivalent of Classmates? I think this should be mentioned in the Classmates article and not in another one. If there are significant distinctions, then one "StayFriends" article should be created which discusses both, as UkPaolo suggested.

"Reconnects friends from school, college, work and the military." should be "aims to reconnect" (as I see UkPaolo has changed), because whether the site actually reconnects is debatable. I can agree to communicate and collaborate. -- getcrunkjuicecontribs 19:55, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
