[edit] Welcome
Hi and welcome to wikipedia. Look forward to your contributions.
- You were correct about that nonsense New Age bit added to Traumatology meditation to the end of the article - I just deleted it !
- An unregistered user
- No description technique ('Asian' in addition to 'normal' meditation)
- Could not spell meditation/mediation
- Only promoting a particular persons name.
- There is a Post-traumatic stress disorder page, which whilst quite lengthy, seems rather bitty in the treatment section (can the approach with LSD be real - it is an illegal drug even in Netherlands, and increases risk of psychiatric disorders for years afterwards!)
- Yes Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Clinical medicine is the place to discuss all issues/questions in the WP medical community.
- Author liability is not I beleve a problem, see Wikipedia#Evaluations
- All users are warned that their contributions may be "edited mercilessly and redistributed at will"
- A user contributes to other users work, and is not liable for the content of an article before or afterwards. Articles evolve as others then edit, whether it be to directly change or contradict, expand an article further, edit misspellings, alter page layout etc
- as a specialist one tries to improve the factual information written often by non-specialists. The contribution is just the isolated edits, not the liability of the whole article (if it were, then a user would need edit the whole article in one go, not just some small section at a time)
- the neutral point of view NPOV required by wikipedia is a good guide when writting articles in order not to get into conflict (by which I mean arguements or edit wars, rather than your patient's lawyers). So describe what an 'iv drip' is, 'peritoneal tap' (or is it washout?) looking for bleeding, 'Glasgow Coma Score' for assessing levels of conciousness, neck xray before removing a neck collar. But none of this expresses an opinion as to whether or not it applies in a particular case. If there are divergent views then often good to provide a referrence: it is not 'your view' being given, just that you document that there are points of view. Likewise in discussing approaches to cancer or HIV therapy I, as a doctor, would have no problem mentioning in an encyclopedia article such as wikipedia that some try using alternative Medicine as a cure rather than just for symptom relief, yet I believe this is a dishonest & dangerous practice.
