I'm a physicist. Ph.D., 1991, University Wisconsin-Madison, major physics, minor mathematics.

I reside in Champaign, Illinois, USA. I lived for two years in Europe, where I traveled and learned to speak German. I've been to Spain, Mexico, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Canada, and Mexico. I would like to go to the Netherlands, Italy, Africa, and Asia.

I subscribe to Harper's, Atlantic Monthly, and Wired. I listen to Deutsch Welle (auf deutsch, natuerlich) and BBC podcasts, among others.
