Talk:John T. Struble

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The three Struble brothers, John T., Isaac S., and George R., all played significant roles in the early history of Iowa. Some of John T.'s constructions still stand in Iowa City, notably the old St Agatha seminary, which is now either a dorm at the U. of Iowa, or an apartment complex, I'm not sure. Iowa only became a state in 1846, and the lives of these three brothers offers insight into the formative years of the Hawkeye State.

Several sources indicate that John T.'s father-in-law, William B. Snyder, was architect for the Old Capitol building in Iowa City. But Harvey W. Henry of Iowa City informs by email that John F. Rague was the chief architect. Could it be that some sub-contracting was involved here, or that more than one architect played a role?
