Added part about the high school

[edit] deletion

I have removed a reference to James Brindley being his pupil, because the recent biography of Brindley (who was in fact Smeaton's senior by eight years) says nothing of his being Smeaton's pupil. I have my doubts as to Benjamin Latrobe being a pupil, but have no evidence on which to base my doubts and therefore have done nothing about that. Peterkingiron 22:11, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

I think I was wrong in my doubts about Benjamin Latrobe. Peterkingiron 22:45, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

CAN THIS ARTICLE CROSS-REFERENCE WITH THE INVENTION OF CEMENT?

Maybe, but his role in this field was one of researching and accounting for the properties of existing materials: none of his work on this can be described as "invention". . . .LinguisticDemographer 12:50, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
