Does anyone have a valid source confirming the historical existence of John Sage?

-He is certainly not in the ODNB, and one site claims to have undertaken local research without finding any evidence of his existence. It would be interesting to know when the story was first constructed of Sage: Fox News apparently worked with such a story in an episode of their 2000 reality TV show called 'Scariest Places on Earth'. No doubt encouraging belief in such a person profits those who wish to attract ghost-hunting tourists to Chillingham Castle. Dsp13 22:59, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
