This is not true that these three teams are the only ones. Gérard Besson and Laurent Bessières, both from the University of Grenoble (France) made a similar (but less widespread) work. I would be surprised if there was no similar projects in other countries, e.g. Germany.

Maybe more circumspection is needed.
