Talk:John Gotti

[edit] Career
One paragraph in this section describes how Gotti got close to boss Carlo Gambino while acting as Capo - the very next paragaph describes how he usurps boss Paul Castellano. There is nothing inbetween to inform that reader that Gambino had died in 1976 and Castellano was his successor. It could be confusing for readers with no prior research. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.16.229.138 (talk) 00:32, 18 February 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Misc.
John Gotti, respect him for what he was, hate him for what he was, but stop the bullshit crapola postings. Jimryan
[edit] Know what I mean
You know that thing? Yeah that thing about the thing? The thing about the thing with the thing in the thing about the thing? Well the thing is the thing.

[edit] Cancer & Aids
Although some folks continue to change the cause of death from Cancer to AIDS and it gets REVERTED BACK. If the cancer that caused John Gotti's death was caused by AIDS then this would be a reason for listing the death as an aids death. All we need is evidence that supports this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.61.20.7 (talk • contribs).

An event in this article is a April 2 selected anniversary (may be in HTML comment)
[edit] Fifth brother
Why the hell is there a fictional fifth brother? Someone delete this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 146.115.113.69 (talk • contribs).
[edit] Not good prose
Although many think this was acover up designed by the ceraolo family after Mace Ceraolo the much feared head hitman of the ceraolo family killed John Gotti with such skill.

[edit] Cause of death
Did John Gotti have aids? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.60.223.139 (talk • contribs).
- I'm pretty sure he died of throat cancer, and his death wasn't related to AIDs. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MZucker (talk • contribs).

- I saw a programme on him last week, that said his death was an AIDs-related death. TheSwines 00:20, 20 November 2006 (UTC) 11:55, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- John Gotti DID NOT die of AIDS. He died of throat cancer as was already mentioned. Had he died of AIDS, believe me it would have been reported on because his life from the mid-1980s to his death in 2002 was under the microscope of the media. Also he wasn't the don of the Gambino Family from 1986 to 1992. He was only convicted of racketeering in 1992 and sent to prison. He was still the official boss of the Family until 2001, when he turned control of the Family over to his brother, Peter Gotti, who became the official boss. Between 1992 and 2001 there were committees or acting bosses running the Family. So he was actually "the don of the Gambino Family" from 1986 to 2001.
- Also, this part right here in the article is just stupid: It was also rumored that Gotti's throat cancer was the result of a beating he took at the hands of a black inmate with whom he had a fight in 1996. He got beat down in Marion by a black inmate but nowhere has it ever been referenced that that caused his throat cancer. I would suspect if any one thing caused his throat cancer was that he was a lifelong smoker of cigarettes and cigars. But that's only a guess and should not be included in a biography of this man in any way. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.182.147.30 (talk • contribs).

- I am not aware of any research linking AIDS to any type of Cancer. I am also unaware of any research linking acute trauma (such as a beating) to any type of cancer. I would be much more inclined to believe the smoking-->cancer theory, but like 24.182.147.30 I have absolutely no evidence or research to indicate this Lorangriel 19:02, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
