Talk:John Boyle O'Reilly

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi! I heard that the song 'Van Diemen's Land' on U2's 'Rattle and Hum' actually refers to this poet. Do you know more? Should this be mentioned in the article?

  • If it's true then it should be mentioned. But O'Reilly was never in Van Diemen's Land, so it doesn't seem likely. Snottygobble | Talk 05:57, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

— "Van Diemen's Land" is most definitely dedicated to John Boyle O'Reilly as explained in the album's notes (DRW).

There is an error in the Escape portion of the page - it says he escaped in February 1870 and landed in Phillie in November 1869 ...... that is one fancy time travelling ship that he escaped on!
