Johnny Rockets

Johnny Rockets is an American burger restaurant franchise whose motif is meant to recreate the American malt shops of the 1940s and 1950s.
Its restaurants' decor include jukeboxes, chrome accents and red leather seats, and customers are waited on by waiters and waitresses dressed in attire of the period. The staff are also known to sing and dance every half-hour, perhaps outside at the entrance of the restaurant, twirl straws and make smiley faces of ketchup.
All orders are made-to-order. Menu items include hamburgers, shakes, sandwiches, malts and breakfast.

Johnny Rockets was founded on June 6, 1986, by Ronn Teitelbaum of Los Angeles, California. The first restaurant was established in the Melrose District of LA.
In February 2007, it was announced that Red Zone Capital, the private equity firm of Daniel Snyder, was set to acquire the chain. Snyder announced plans to expand the chain both within the United States and worldwide, including the launch of smaller outlets known as Johnny Rockets Express.
Because Dan Snyder now owns Six Flags, parks such as Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags New England, Six Flags Great America, Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, and Six Flags Over Georgia will host a Johnny Rockets restuarant.

Johnny Rockets opened in Canada in 2005 with stores at Vaughan Mills shopping centre in Vaughan, Ontario, the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and at the Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.

Johnny Rockets opened in Kuwait in the early 90's and currently has four stores located in Kuwait City: Marina Mall, Salmiya Underground, Salhiya and one in Fahaheel at the Al-Manshar Mall.

Johnny Rockets opened three branches in Dubai in 2003 and 2006, one of which is in Mall of the Emirates.

Johnny Rockets operated in Australia in the early-to-mid 1990's; the locations are now closed.

Johnny Rockets opened in Bahrain in 2005 and currently has only one store located in Manama.

Johnny Rockets opened in Roppongi, Tokyo in 1994.

Johnny Rockets has several locations in Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Los Cabos, and Galerias. It will soon be opening a new location in the Cancun Airport.

- The world's largest Johnny Rockets restaurant opened in April of 2006 with more than 5,900 square feet - and has seating for 260 people. It operates inside Knott's Berry Farm, an amusement park located in the city of Buena Park based in Orange County, CA.
- On Royal Caribbean's Voyager class, Freedom class, and most likely the Genesis class in the future ships, a Johnny Rockets restaurant is located near Adventure Ocean.
- There is a similar but unconnected Irish owned franchise called Eddie Rockets.
- There are currently three restaurants in Puerto Rico.
- The burgers and advertisements in Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble are of Johnny Rockets.
