Johnny Callanan

Johnny (John) Callanan (May 20, 1910June 15, 1982) was an Irish politician from County Galway, Ireland.

Callanan was born in the village of Kilconnell, near Ballinasloe, County Galway, to a farming family.

In the 1950s, Callanan was an active member of the Irish farmers' association Macra na Feirme.

Callanan belonged to the right-of-centre political party Fianna Fáil, and served as a Teachta Dála to Dáil Éireann for the Clare-Galway South (1973–1977) and Galway East (1977–1982) constituencies.

He was an uncle to the present Galway East TD, Joe Callanan.
