John Wood Lewis, Sr.

John Wood Lewis, Sr. (February 1, 1801 – July 11, 1865) was a lawyer and politician who served in the Confederate Congress during the American Civil War.
Lewis was born in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. He was a member of the South Carolina state legislature, 1830–31; member of Georgia Senate, 1845; Senator from Georgia in the Confederate Congress, 1862-63.
He died in Canton, Cherokee County, Georgia.
