John Welbourn (born March 30, 1976) is a National Football League offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs. He has previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999-2003.

Before the 2006 NFL season, Welbourn "retired" because he said he wanted to "retire on my own terms rather than somebody else's." Welbourn was in fact suspended for 5 games in 2005 after testing positive for steroids and arguably wanted to protect his image. [1]

Welbourn was reinstated around week seven of the 2006 season and returned to practice with the Chiefs on October 26, 2006.

Recently, Welbourn dated actress Katee Sackhoff for a time, but the relationship ended.[citation needed]

[edit] High School Years

Welbourn attended Palos Verdes Peninsula High School in Rolling Hills Estates, California and was a letterman in football.
