From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John W. Moussach, Jr. a Hungarian-American (born January 6, 1971 in Akron, Ohio, United States) is an industrialist, business financier, private equity investor, restaurateur and philanthropist.

The son of John W. Moussach, a mechanical engineer who held commercially successful patents for methods of tire manufacturing, Moussach, Jr. went to high school at Choate in Wallingford, Connecticut, then majored in ethics, politics and economics at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. At Yale, Moussach helped found and wrote for Rumpus Magazine.* 1

Upon graduation from Yale in 1993, Moussach bought one of his father's manufacturing process patents and convinced a handful of venture capitalists to finance construction of a factory outside Akron. The new form of retread insulation manufactured by JWM Enterprises is now used in 60% of new tires sold worldwide. (Most of is manufactured through licensing of the process.) In 1999, Moussach sold JWM Enterprises to a Korean conglomerate for an estimated $500 million. Moussach was estimated to earn $125 million from the deal.

Moussach has since invested in manufacturing technology companies. In late 2006, he said he would open a small chain of premium steakhouse restaurants in mid-sized cities.2 Moussach also gives money to various causes, including malaria eradication efforts and an endowment for Rumpus.
