John Tennyson

John Tennyson (born 6 February 1985) is an Irish sportsman. He is a member of the Kilkenny senior hurling team.

John Tennyson was born in Hugginstown, County Kilkenny in 1985. He was educated locally in Newmarket N.S. and later at St. Kieran's College where he won an All-Ireland colleges medal. Currently, Tennyson is an undergraduate at University College Cork studying civil engineering. His hurling skills were quickly noted by the Kilkenny minor selectors and Tennyson soon made it onto the team. He was a key member of the side that won back to back All-Ireland Minor titles in 2002 and 2003. Tennyson made his senior debut for Kilkenny in 2005, and has been a key feature in the half-back line since. In his first year as a senior hurler he won his first National Hurling League medal as well as his first Leinster Championship title. In 2006 Tennyson won his second league and provincial titles, as well as his first senior All-Ireland medal.
