John Stafford (Irish politician)

John Stafford (born 1944) is a former Irish Fianna Fáil party politician and TD. He was first elected to the 25th Dáil in the 1987 General election for Dublin Central. He was re-elected in the 1989 election, but lost his seat in the 1992 election when he stood in the Dublin North Central constituency due to the 1992 boundary revisions
A member of Dublin City Council, Stafford was Lord Mayor of Dublin from 1997–1998[1], and later proposed the motion which led to the council supporting the construction of the Dublin Spire. The spire was opposed by his brother, Councillor Tom Stafford. [2].
The family also operate an undertakers businesss.
