John Shuptrine

John Robert Shuptrine (born March 7, 1955 in Toledo, Ohio) is a self-taught black-and-white American photographer. His work encompasses a wide range of topics, from portraits to landscapes, with a special emphasis on abstract close-ups.

He has received numerous awards from local shows, including Best in Show at the 2000 Lynchburg Fine Arts Center Juried Photography Contest. Shuptrine has also had several gallery and commercial shows in Lynchburg, Charlottesville and Roanoke, VA. He recently won a Gold Award in the latest edition of B+W Magazine Single Image Contest Awards 2005. He is also a member of the Blue Ridge Photographic Arts Society.
